Wondrous Days

Wondrous Days

Wondrous Days

~ by C. L. Gillmore

Fingers quieted on the keyboard, her eyes, immediately drawn
To the brilliant blue horizon, heightened by the setting sun.
Sapphire skies etch and frame the rugged, layered mountains
That tower, stretch, and silently soar beyond the closed front door.
How could she not have noticed these wondrous days before?

Drifting through life’s ebbs and flows, somehow he’d gotten lost
To the simple, timeless beauty of the things that mattered most.
An innocent touch soothed and calmed a lost and damaged soul
With unselfish love he had to know, she’d find her way and go.
How could he not have noticed those wondrous days before?

Defying time and explanation, the closed doors have opened
To the past, present, and future where dreams, at last, can mend.
Dreams that help the heart to heal and permit the soul to soar
By allowing time to temper, to bend, and sanction hope again.
How could they not have noticed these wondrous days before?

Wondrous Days

An inlet and an outlet for my soul

CL Gillmore

Jake and Rose are discussing how her therapy sessions are going with Molly…

“What else did you and Molly talk about?”

“She wanted to know what I was working on. I told her I finished the first novel and was working on the sequel. She said writing is a powerful force in my life—a tool to help me understand myself—an inlet and an outlet for my soul. I thought that was beautiful.”

“It is. Did you tell her you kill people off in your books as part of your therapy?”

“I did! She laughed…especially when I told her I killed the husband and secretary off in the first novel. I told her it was my way of letting go and moving on toward a happy ending.”

“Sounds right to me.”

Listen, Look and Remember

Weep not, cry not, do not grieve for me-my soul at last runs free.

My immortal spirit, unbound soul, forever young will be.

Soul, Save Me One More Time

Waves of sadness

And I am Drowning.

Cannot catch my breath.

Soul, save me one more time.

Waves of sadness
And I am drowning.
Cannot catch my breath.
Soul, save me one more time.

Tears and brine at once
And I am slipping at sea.
Cannot see the crest anymore.

Life floats in pieces of wreckage above
And I watch with stinging eyes.
Cannot reach for a savior.

Beacon from shore is dark now.
And I am ready to give.
Cannot hold on to the breath of a dream.
Soul, save me one more time.
