The Music

1970. Eric Clapton’s Derek and the Dominoes began recording their only album and Layla would become a classic.

The music would forever influence my life and later my writings…

“It was an exciting time to be part of all this—to be a part of a band, to just be part of something and feel like I belonged.  All of us felt connected.  We were always together surrounded by the music of the times. The band had indeed become our common bond. A bond that for me would never be broken…”

“We were also caught up in and bound by the music that the band would listen to and play: The Beatles, The Doors, Crosby, stills, Nash & Young, James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater, Jefferson Airplane, Chicago, Bob Dylan and Santana.  And Jake and I were coupled in it, riding high on deep, youthful passionate emotions.  The kind that really only happens once in a lifetime—in youth.”
